Trekking in Ladakh, Markha Valley
The most popular trek in ladakh is a Markha valley trek. It will provide you beautiful landscape, people , wild life and valleys with passes.
Day 01. Flight Delhi/Leh
After having wonderful flight from Delhi to Leh, we will receive you at Leh airport and transfer to hotel. Full day need to acclimatize because now you are at the altitude 11300ft above the sea level . Overnight Hotel
Day 02. Monasteries Tour
Today we will take you to historical monastery of Ladakh i.e Shay Palace, Thiksay and Himis monastery located on the bank of riven Indus by car. After driving along the Indus First you will visit Thiksay monastery located on the top on a hill decorated with many stupas, paintings and monastic school. The monastery headed by Ven. Khanpo Ripochay �the present head lama of the monastery�. This is an example of the Potala Palace of Tibet and maintain its monastic culture. The morning prayers makes it very spiritual start with the rising sun with the tune of conch shell. Later drive to Himis monastery. The biggest and richest monastery of Ladakh. Himis monastery is a land mark of the history of Ladakh. The famouse King Singay Namgyal was invited Lama �staktsang Raspa� to Ladakh and bless the monastery. Visit the 15 century painting of gold and silver, statues, and big yard of Himis monastery. On the way back to Leh one can visit Shay Royal Palace. This is the summer palace of the king of Ladakh that a small lake bellow the place is reflecting the palace and wonderful view of Indus valley. Overnight Hotel
Day 03 Leh- Jingchen-Rumbak ( trek)
Today morning after having breakfast you will drive to Jingchen village by crossing Spituk bridge of Indus river and drive along the desert land till village Jingchen. Here you will meet horses and horse man with all trekking team. Then trek slowly till village Rumbak for 3 hrs. Rumbak is a tiny village where farmers are depend on their barley crops and vegetables who has some home stay for the guest to generate income from tourist. Overnight Camp.
Day 04. Rumbak- Yurutse trek 3-4hrs
Today trek start from Rymbak to village Yurutse by gradual climbing. Yurutse is a villge of one family. A nice traditional house of village of Ladakh where we can try to have some local butter tea. Then continuously trek to the base of Gandala. Overnight Camp.
Day 05. Yuru tse � Gandala pass Sku 5-6 hrs.
Trek by gradual climbing after breakfast to Gandala pass of( 4970m) which provide wonderful view of Stok range, Markha valley and Zanskar range. Then easy decent to village Shingo. Then continues trek to village Sku. Overnight Camp.
Day 06 Sku to Makha village 3800m ( 6-7 hrs)
Trek along the Markha river with several stupa and Mani wall. One can visit Markha monastery and very pleasant walk with walk till beautiful camp site for overnight.
Day 07. Markha � Hankar - Thachuntse 5-6hrs
Morning after breakfast easy trek to Hankar village. Just leaving behind the Markha village by crossing the rivers without any bridge to Hankar village .Hankar is the historical village where one old damage fort can be seen. Then continues trek to Thachungse .Overnight Camp.
Day 08. Thachungtse �Nimaling 3-4 hrs
After breakfast the trail climbs steadily up to the narrow valley to reach Nyiamling which is a plain broad meadow. The people of Marklha valley come here in Summer for pastures their yaks, sheep, goats, and horses. Occasionally wild sheep and wolf Overnight Camp
Day 09. Nimaling rest
Today is the rest day to explore the Nimaling and one can make a climbing trip to Kang-Yatse peak(6'553m, 21'500ft). Overnight Camp
Day 10. Nimaling �Kongmaru la � Shang Sumdo
Leave Namling by crossing Gandala pass (5300m) the highest pass in this rout. From the pass you can have wonderful view of Indus valley and Karakoram range and lots of prayer flags. Steep decent to Chu-skumo then follow until Shang village. The last camping of Markha valley trek. Overnight Camp.
Day 11. Shang Sumdo � Himis �Leh
After breakfast trek to Marselang village and good bye to your trekking staff and drive to Leh. Overnight Hotel
Day 12. Leh.
Day free for your own activities along the colourful Leh Market. Overnight Hotel
Day 13. Flight to Delhi
